In the assembly of the Culture Secretaries of the European Union which took place in Brussels on
the 28th of May 1998, it was officially decided the designation of Salamanca as a European City of Culture 2002
after having taken into consideration its qualities as a university town, open and hospitable as well as its
historic and artistic richness which made the UNESCO declare this city as Heritage of Humanity. Spain has a similar
classification system to France and Italy, with all classified wine regions regulated under the Denominación de
Origen (DO) system. Red wines are often labelled as Crianza, Reserva or Gran Reserva. In Rioja and the Ribera del
Duero, Crianza wines are two years old, with at least twelve months spent in cask (elsewhere the oak ageing may
legally be restricted to just six months). A life jacket, vest or buoyancy aid is an essential safety item
for all watersports and water-related and near-water activities. Each and every year there are thousands of deaths
in boating accidents. Life jackets could have saved the lives of many boaters who drowned for not using life jackets UK details

The old part of this town of encounters and wise men, great
thinkers on science and humanities make up an exceptional mosaic and network of cathedrals with the Palaces of
Monterrey and Fonseca, the "Shell house", the Clavero tower, the Plaza Mayor and the convents of San Esteban and
Dueñas. All this heritage is enriched by the university nature of the town with the oldest university in
Spain. The Spanish political scene was further complicated by
ultraconservatives, both at home and in Cuba, Carlists, and Republicans seeking political influence under the guise
of patriotism. The Spanish press, in just as irresponsible a way as the "yellow" press in the United States, was
whipping up patriotic and anti-U.S. sentiments in Spain. After the shock of the loss, the Spanish government turned
to the Spanish Foreign Legion. The Legion were among the finest soldiers in the world, and while they suffered,
held, and scraped they way along in Africa, tanks were sought from England and France. British tanks, the Whippet,
in particular, was far too expensive for the Spanish government to afford and so the French FT17 became the logical
choice for them. Alpine marmots, Europe's biggest rodent, first reintroduced to the French side of the Catalan
Pyrenees in the 1950s could one day occupy all alpine and subalpine meadows in this mountain range. Bernat
Claramunt and his co-authors, writing in Ethology Ecology and Evolution, state that there are now over 10,000
marmots in the Catalan Pyrenees and maps their expansion.
